Rock Hill: Growth and Greatness

As the fifth largest city in South Carolina and the fourth largest in the Charlotte metro area, there’s a lot to attract potential residents to Rock Hill. The city has a long history dating back to the 1800s, and while its textile production foundation might have faded over time, the city’s commitment to attracting business has not. With a motto like “Always On”, it’s easy to see that commitment in action today. Rock Hill has a population of just over 66,000 residents, making it a decent sized city, but one that still manages to retain its small-town charm, as well as its connection with history.
Currently, the city is home to a number of major employers, including 3D Systems, Amida Industries, Carolina Energy, Comporium Communications, Langer Transport Corporation and Hyosung Corporation. Winthrop University is also located in town. This makes it a prime location for those relocating for education or their career, and there are also quite a few remarkable neighborhoods scattered around town.
Riverwalk is a stunning master-planned community that offers a little something for everyone. Located on the banks of the Catawba River, Riverwalk truly lives up to its name, and the elegant design of the homes throughout this neighborhood evoke both Southern tradition and modern architecture. Homes range from single-family homes to cottages and townhomes, and the neighborhood features over two miles of riverfront walking trails, as well as a kayak launch, mountain bike trails and an Olympic Velodrome (as well as a BMX track). As you can see, there are plenty of amazing places to call home in the area surrounding Rock Hill, South Carolina. Of course, there’s also plenty to experience. The Catawba River is popular for swimming, kayaking and rafting, and the area’s natural beauty makes hiking and mountain biking both popular activities. If you’re interested in something a bit more organized, then there are plenty of seasonal events that fit the bill, from the annual Come-See-Me festival that attracts 125,000 visitors each year to the Blues and Jazz Festival held each year in October. Other must-attend events include the city’s Independence Day celebration, named the Red, White and Boom Festival, as well as the Underexposed Film Festival.
There are several museums and arts centers throughout the city as well, including the York County Museum of Rock Hill, the Center for the Arts (an art museum) and the Main Street Children’s Museum, to name just a few.
Rock Hill is an amazing place to call home, whether you want to rest and relax, find a new career or just enjoy proximity to the greater Charlotte area.
